World Water Day 2013 - 22nd March

March 22nd is World Water Day and 2013 is the international year of water cooperation. To mark the occassion, MESTECH launched it's Water Agenda for 2013. The details of upcoming MESTECH events can be found by clicking here.

March Water JPI Newsletter Released

The Water Joint Programme Initiative (JPI) Newsletter for March has been released and can be found, along with older editions here.

The JPI "Water challenges for a changing world" deals with research in the field of water and hydrological sciences. The availability of water in sufficient quantities and adequate quality is indeed a public issue of high priority and addresses a pan-European and global environmental challenge.

The Council of the European Union decided to launch the Joint Programming Initiative "Water Challenges for a Changing World" on 6 December 2011 as a contribution to the reduction of fragmentation of efforts by Member States and mobilisation of skills, knowledge and resources, with a view to strengthening Europe's leadership and competitiveness on water research and innovation.

MESTECH PI in Australian News - 14th February 2013

Prof. Dermot Diamond, a MESTECH Principal Investigator and Director of the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR) was featured in an article in the Illawarra Mercury publication in Australia. The article details a collaboration between the (NCSR) and the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI) at the University of Wollongong. The collaboration is through work on smart textiles to find innovative solutions for the management of diabetes and other health conditions.
